Twitter Launches India Blog
The Next Web
Twitter has always been available in India, but the company — which holds its IPO tomorrow — has stepped up a gear by launching an India-specific blog today, as spotted by TechCrunch.

Luigi Cappel‘s insight:

It’s interesting when you look on Trendsmap and see what is being tweeted about in different countries. India is one that seems at times to be totally focused on cricket (maybe that’s just the type of people that currently use Twitter there. On the map for India today Tendulkar is the hottest Twitter topic, whereas in Auckland it’s all about the Roastbusters scandal.

I don’t think Twitter needs to use cricket to get their IPO moving, but I guess given that it appears to be one of the most important distractions to the wider population that it makes sense. If they were able to add a gambling element to their product in India it would probably go ballistic.

I did hesitate whether to include this story, but it must be remembered that Twitter is effectively a short form blog, so totally relevant. Twitter and Flipbook are where I look to for the latest in citizen news and opinion.
