Luigi Cappel‘s insight:

It’s not often that I curate a post that I disagree with. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for humor, but unless under certain circumstances where it may be related to a competition or campaign, I would leave them out.

What you can and should do IMHO is to find the humor in a situation that can be used to tell an anecdotal story, where it helps get a message across as well as portrays a sense of humor for the company itself.

I often use humor on my blog at www.thefuturediaries.com. I have also in the past used quotes as a preface or intro to a blog or newsletter. They proved very popular and often generated engagement with the readers. I even got complaints when there wasn’t a quote of the day!

Remember that if your blog is for business, you have to use your business hat. If you are an iconic brand that uses humor in a big way like Tui Beer in New Zealand, jokes might be relevant, but for most business blogs, imho jokes are out, sorry…
