Is this a gap? Is this doing something you can’t currently do? Would you use it? Do you use something similar? I’m curious. Sites I currently use don’t seem to have the location element in relation to where I am in real time. They have really good databases of events, but if I am somewhere and have an hour or two to kill, it’s not easy to see what live events are around on a map as related to my vicinity and interests. Yet this is something I have been writing about and asking for, for many years. I actually thought that this would be a next step from my friends at TomTom by now.
There have been experiments with Foursquare and others of that ilk, but they are more about cafes and restaurants, i.e. the premises or location and what is normally there.
I am still looking for the app that says, you’re in Taupo, New Zealand and the annual Huka Falls bathtub raft race is happening right now, only 5 minutes drive from you’re current location. Would you like directions?
