Refugees Are More Connected Than Ever. Rescuers Must Be Too

The current refugee crisis differs from every mass migration before it because these travelers are so connected.

We have an impression from a distance that these refugees have nothing, including technology, good educations and skills and this story is a great reminder that this is far from true.

It’s interesting that we aren’t seeing map apps, at least when the first waves started. I guess today when people have the threat of being sent back to where they came from, the main incentive for communication is to reduce risk, such as when a boat is sinking, or staying in touch with friends, family and supporters.
