South African App Allows Public to Share GPS Location With Police

I found this story in Business Day Live.

Namola.JPGThis is interesting because it follow hard on the heels of a story I wrote just a couple of weeks ago. The concept of ringing Police is relevant but outdated (not redundant) given that:
1. Most of us have Smartphones with GPS
2. Sometimes you don’t want other people hearing you call the Police as it may add risk to the situation.
3. Location is one of the most important things that you need to be able to share with emergency services and you may not know or be able o describe your exact location.
I hope that we see more apps like this in the very near future and it’s interesting to read about this one in South Africa.I would have expected innovation like this in California, New York or London.
